Cost Accountant | Allegan, MI

Salary Range: $65,000 - $98,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and report on manufacturing costs, variances, and profitability.
• Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
• Perform detailed variance analysis, investigating differences between actual and standard costs.
• Manage and reconcile inventory valuations (raw materials, WIP, finished goods).
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts related to production costs.
• Calculate product costs and cost of goods sold for financial reporting.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and efficiency improvements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• In-depth understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation methods.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze production costs, identify trends, and support budgeting/forecasting processes.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) relevant to manufacturing operations.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ERP system implementation or advanced module configuration (e.g., SAP CO, Oracle Manufacturing).
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for presenting financial insights.
• Advanced financial modeling skills for forecasting and scenario analysis.
