Cost Accountant | Byron Center, MI

Salary Range: $67,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Byron Center seeking Cost Accountants who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and profitability reports.
• Perform detailed variance analysis, investigating differences between actual and standard costs.
• Manage inventory valuation, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Support the annual budget process by providing cost data and analysis.
• Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and process improvement projects.
• Prepare regular cost reports for management to aid decision-making.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressive cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Deep understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) or advanced Excel modeling.
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
