Job description:
A private family based in Greenwich, Connecticut is seeking a talented and collaborative Private Chef to join a team of two, working alongside an established chef who has been with the family for many years.
This is a full-time, permanent role with a rotational schedule: 4 days on, followed by 4 days off , covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner each working day.
The role involves cooking for a couple as primary guests, with occasional entertaining for family and friends. On Sundays or special occasions, the household may host events for up to 30 guests. Travel to the Hamptons during the summer and Florida in the winter is required, aligned with the chef's working rotation. Accommodation is only provided during these trips.
The family enjoys a wide range of cuisines including French, Italian, Japanese, and Vegan for one of the guests. They are looking for a chef with excellent flavor development and strong restaurant or high-end private experience. Flexibility and confidence are essential, as is the ability to work under the leadership of the existing chef and respond to direct feedback from the principals.
This household is very honest and communicative: feedback from the principals will be clear, immediate, and direct. The successful chef must be comfortable hearing constructive criticism and adapting quickly to meet expectations. A thick skin and professional attitude are key to succeeding in this role.
No set menus are required - the family encourages creativity and appreciates chefs who can present their own culinary ideas. However, they expect adaptability and a willingness to meet the family's preferences.
A cooking trial will be required , and this will serve as a real evaluation of the chef’s culinary ability and ability to “wow” the principals and their guests.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in both refined plated cuisine and relaxed family-style buffets. This role suits a chef with no ego, who thrives in a family household environment and values consistency, discretion, and culinary excellence.
