Position Summary

The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations on the production floor, ensuring that lumber cutting, crate assembly, and pallet assembly activities meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This position requires a leader who can communicate effectively with a diverse workforce, provide instructions, and support training, safety, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Management

• Supervise day-to-day activities across cutting, assembly, and support departments.
• Assign and monitor work tasks to operators, assemblers, forklift drivers, and support staff.
• Ensure production goals for output, quality, and schedule compliance are met.
• Manage shift startup, shutdown, and documentation procedures.
• Ability to read technical diagrams and operate machinery safely while maintaining high standards of quality and safety compliance.

2. Workforce Leadership

• Provide clear instructions, safety guidelines, and training.
• Translate work orders, safety protocols, and quality expectations as needed.
• Build strong relationships with employees from different backgrounds.
• Lead team meetings and huddles.
• Coach, develop, and evaluate employees fairly and consistently.

3. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all pallets, crates, and components meet quality specifications.
• Manage Quality Control with inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
• Enforce adherence to SOPs, measuring standards, stamping requirements, and customer specs.

4. Safety & Equipment Oversight

• Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies—must communicate safety expectations clearly.
• Ensure proper use of PPE, nail guns, saws, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Conduct safety talks, accident investigations, and corrective action plans.
• Coordinate with Maintenance for repairs and preventive maintenance.

5. Production Planning & Reporting

• Track daily production numbers, downtime, labor usage, and material consumption.
• Ensure accurate documentation of production logs when necessary.
• Communicate staffing needs, equipment issues, and material shortages to management.

Qualifications

Required:

• 5+ years manufacturing or production floor experience
• 3+ year supervisory or team lead experience
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and OSHA requirements
• Ability to lead diverse teams and communicate clearly
• Ability to read and interpret production schedules, measurements, and drawings

Preferred:

• Bilingual – fluent in Spanish and English (spoken & written)
• Experience in crate & pallet production
• Forklift certification
• Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
• ERP/MRP system familiarity

Working Conditions:

• Manufacturing environment with wood dust, noise, nail guns, forklifts, and lumber-handling equipment
• Requires standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional overtime or weekend work during high-demand periods
